Topic: Addressing Attitudes Towards Refugees from the Middle East

The global order is not the same as it was a decade ago. The era of relative stability since the end of the Cold War is seemingly at an end, and conflict has returned to the top of global headlines. The result of these conflicts has been the undue toll placed on the ordinary civilians of these war-stricken areas, causing many to become refugees and flee to other countries. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, anti-immigrant sentiments have been on the rise all across the more economically-developed world, leaving many refugees without a viable host nation. Delegates in this committee will discuss possible solutions to protect refugees fleeing crises in the Middle East and Northern Africa, from Syria to Sudan, in the wake of growing hostilities from foreign nations and non-state actors.
