UNESCO - Linguistic and Cultural Preservation in a Globalized World

Description:

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) promotes international cooperation through the preservation of shared heritage and cultural diversity within education. With an estimated 7,100 languages spoken across the world and around 40% classified as endangered, linguistic diversity faces an unprecedented level of erosion. In this committee, delegates will discuss the causes and consequences of linguistic and cultural erasure, ranging from colonialism to modern technology and globalization. Delegates are expected to develop strategies to safeguard and revitalize endangered languages and cultures.
