It is with great pleasure that the Model United Nations at UC San Diego announces the 14th session of Triton Model United Nations to be hosted at Price Center on Saturday, October 29th 2016.
This year, in the spirit of promoting an International Relations culture and celebrating the 71st anniversary of this meritorious body we call the United Nations. We are going to have 8 committees related to the most pressing issues in the Global scenario and also of. Our General Assembly committees will focus on issues of the United Nations plan for the future regarding the recently enacted Sustainable Development Goals. The specialized bodies and subcommittees will focus of global technological development and international health coverage and how that might disrupt local relations. For the first time in the history of TritonMUN-Fall we will have 3 crisis committees. Our Joint Crisis Cabinet will be a historical simulation of a conflict that still has repercussions on international policy about South Eastern Asia, the Indochina decolonization process between the reestablished Fourth Republic and the passionate Nationlist movement led by Ho Chi Mihn. Also we will be presenting a new type of committee. Often the UN is left behind in terms of crisis comittees, to change that we are simulating the creation of a peace keeping operation and permanent UN mission in a failed state.
These solutions will be reached through tactful debate by molding idealistic goals into realistic implementation strategies. Our Chairs are looking forward to discussing the complexities of international issues, with emphasis on excellence in research, critical analysis and creative problem solving. We will be hosting a guest speaker in each committee who specializes in the topic to offer delegates their realm of experience when evaluating the multifaceted nature of their topics. The guest speakers range from activists in San Diego’s United Nations Association, to distinguished researchers and internationally focused professionals from this prestigious institution.
Hope to see you in the Fall!
